Tsukayama Shuzosho (津嘉山酒造所)
Tsukayama Shuzosho is a small distillery in Nago, Okinawa, making the awamori Kokka with a staff of three. It was founded in 1924.
What kind of distillery is Tsukayama Shuzosho?
The distillery was founded around 1924 in Nago, then part of Kunigami District. The present red-tiled wooden building was constructed between 1927 and 1929. Most of the town was destroyed in the Pacific War, but the facility was requisitioned after the war as a US military bakery, and traces of that period remain inside. A preservation society was formed in 2005 and the facility was opened to the public. In 2006 it was designated a registered tangible cultural property.
