How it works
What makes KIKI different
It reads the label
Just a photo of the label, no barcode. It reads brush-lettered labels too.
Japanese shop prices and value
Prices from Rakuten and Yahoo! Shopping checked every day and compared per 720 ml.
Price-drop alerts
The app tells you when a bottle you follow gets cheaper.
Shochu and awamori too
Not only sake: honkaku shochu and awamori as well, 20,000+ bottles in all.
It reads menus too
Photograph an izakaya menu to see taste and ratings for the drinks and a translation of the dishes.
Our own database
Brands, breweries, taste and prices are compiled by us from what breweries and shops publish.
Questions
Is there an app that tells you what a sake or shochu is from a photo of the label?
KIKI is built for exactly that. Point your phone at the label and it identifies the bottle and shows its taste, ratings, value score, the cheapest shop and foods it goes with, for 20,000+ sakes, shochus and awamoris.
Can I use it to choose from an izakaya drinks menu?
Yes. Menu scan reads the sake and shochu on a photographed menu and shows ratings, taste and how well each fits you. Free accounts get one menu scan a month (a menu of several pages counts once); Premium up to 20 a day.
Is it free?
Yes. Scanning, bottle pages, ratings and the stamp book are free. Some extras, like price-drop alerts, are planned as a paid Premium plan.
When does it launch?
In early December 2026. Leave your email and we’ll let you know when it’s out.
iPhone and Android?
Both. It will come out on the App Store and Google Play at the same time.
Does it work if I can’t read Japanese?
Yes. The app reads the label for you, and bottle pages are in English and Japanese.
Shochu and awamori too?
Yes. Sake, honkaku shochu and awamori.
Do you sell alcohol?
No. KIKI doesn’t sell alcohol. We compare shop prices and link to the shop; you buy from the shop. Some shop links are affiliate links and are marked “PR”.
