What is the difference between Free and Premium?

The free plan has everything you need to look up and record bottles. Premium adds suggestions tuned to your taste, price and stock alerts, and an analysis of your ratings.

What can I use on the free plan?

Label scanning, bottle pages for 20,000+ bottles (taste, ratings, value score, shop prices), ratings, reviews and favourites, the stamp book, friends and rankings, and Learn are free. Menu scan is free 10 times a month, the watchlist for up to 3 bottles.

What is taste match %?

Taste match % estimates how well a bottle fits your taste, from 3 to 97 %. It compares the bottle with the ones you rated and favourited: their taste, and the grades, ingredients, styles, rice, regions and flavour notes you like or don't.

It appears once you have rated or favourited 5 bottles. On the free plan the number is replaced by "shown with Premium".

How often can I use menu scan?

Photograph an izakaya drinks menu and every sake, shochu and awamori line shows the matching bottle, its rating and your taste match %; food and beer are skipped. Free accounts get 10 menu scans a month, Premium up to 20 a day.

A menu of several pages counts once (pages within 2 hours of the first, up to 8). Menu photos are not stored.

What is the watchlist?

Put a bottle on your watchlist and the app tells you when it is 5 % or more below its usual price (the median of the last 30 days) and when it is back in stock after selling out. The alerts come in the app. Free accounts can watch 3 bottles, Premium any number.

What are price-drop alerts?

When a favourite, or a bottle you rated highly (you choose the minimum, 6 to 9), drops 5, 10, 15 or 20 % (your choice) below its usual price, you get a notice in the app and, if you want, an e-mail. No need to add bottles one by one.

Prices are checked every day at shops on Rakuten Ichiba and Yahoo! Shopping and compared per 720 ml.

What does Insights show?

An analysis of your own ratings: how you rate compared with online ratings, a taste map (dry ↔ sweet, light ↔ rich), the flavours you love and the ones that aren't for you, your ratings by type, price band, polishing ratio, region, producer and rice, your best-value bottles, month by month, and a map of the producers you have tried.

What is My Cellar?

A record of the bottles you keep at home: how many, size, state (sealed, open, finished), where (fridge, cellar, room temperature), when and where you bought it, the price and a note.

It shows a drink-by guide (sealed namazake about 3 months in the fridge, about a week once opened) and a pick for tonight. Aged sake and awamori show how many years they have been resting, and you see the difference between what you paid and today's price.

What is the pairing assistant?

Choose up to 4 foods: an ingredient (chicken, white fish, tofu …), a cooking style (grilled, fried, hot pot …) and a seasoning (salt, soy, citrus …). Or type a dish such as "chicken and ginger". It finds bottles that fit, from your own (favourites, bottles you rated highly, My Cellar) and from the catalogue.

On bottle pages, the free plan shows the best ingredient, cooking style and seasoning for each bottle; Premium shows all of them.

Can I get Premium for free?

Every silver stamp you earn in the stamp book gives you one free month of Premium. There are three silver stamps:

• 招 (invite): 5 friends who joined through your invite each rate 3 or more bottles
• 筆 (brush): write 25 reviews of 30 characters or more (the same text counts once)
• 季 (seasons): rate bottles in 3 different months

The free months you earn are used when you start Premium.
