History
According to the official site the brewery was founded in 1830 by the first Oi Nagakichi in Yashima, and successive heads take the name Nagakichi, the present one being the seventh. The brewing water comes from Mount Chokai's perennial snow, which takes around 70 years to emerge as subsoil water, drawn from the brewery's own wells. Rice is grown under contract through the Tenju sake rice research association, including Akita Sake Komachi and Miyama Nishiki. The Chokaisan line began in 2000, and brewing is teamwork led by the toji.
