History
According to its own history page, the company began brewing sake around 200 years ago, in the Bunka-Bunsei period of the late Edo era, and has kept its brewery in Asakura, Fukuoka since. Asakura is called the home of water, with the Chikugo River and several dams, and the company presents this water as the starting point of its brewing. The sake brand became Kunigiku about a century ago, and in 1980 it launched Kunigiku amazake and obtained a shochu licence. The 2017 northern Kyushu floods damaged the site and it rebuilt. In 2021 it opened SHINDO LAB and began making whisky and wine.
