What kind of brewery is it?
The brewery's main family line is the Ichijima house, which came to the Shibata domain with the Mizoguchi lord in 1598. The first head, Ichijima Shumatsu, branched off in the Kansei era and began brewing at the present site, first under the name Suwamori, after the nearby Suwa Shrine. In modern times the main brand became Omon, joined by the junmai line Yume and Karen aimed at younger drinkers and women. The brewery also took on women brewers early, and one of them became the first woman in Japan to pass the first-class brewing technician exam.
