What kind of brewery is it?
Kutsukake Shuzo was founded in the Genroku era by Kutsukake Gonemon and has kept brewing on the Kokushi road at Shimoshiojiri. In 1804 the head of the family took part in a kemari gathering held at Edo Castle. The company was set up as a stock company in 1950, and the Showa-gura, the brewhouse still in use, was completed in 1969. In 2016 the head of the family, Hiroyuki Kutsukake, became the first brewer-owner of the brewery as toji, and in 2021 Masatoshi Kutsukake became the 18th president.
