What kind of distillery is it?

Founded in Naha in 1882, the brewery lost its plant and stored awamori in the war. It started its move toward private operation in 1949 and began oak cask research in 1958. The oak-aged awamori Danryu was released in 1968 after about ten years of development, and in 1999 the brewery moved to the foot of the Ishikawa highlands in Uruma City.

What makes it distinct

Ingredients
The raw rice is hard-grain Thai rice.
Master brewer
The brewery treats raising black koji through the old-koji method as the starting point of its aged awamori.
Yeast
Sho is brewed with a flower yeast taken from Okinawan hibiscus and distilled three times.
Style
Danryu uses aged awamori matured in oak casks.
