What kind of brewery is it?
The brewery traces its start to 1804, when the second generation of the Matsuura family began brewing sake. In 1878 the fifth-generation head set out with a toji to visit breweries across Japan. In 1886 the name Narutotai was approved as a registered trademark. The new plant Kyowa-gura was completed in 1999, and in 2002 the old brewhouse was registered as a tangible cultural property.
