History
The brewery began in 1890 as Shirai Shuzo in the former town of Mizuhara, now part of Agano. It became Koshi no Nihonzakura Shuzo in 1993 and took the name Echigo Sakura Shuzo in 2009, when the whole plant was renewed. It stands on National Route 49 near Hyoko lake, a Ramsar wetland, and brews with locally grown rice. A tasting corner at the brewery pours freshly pressed sake.
