History
The company was formed in August 1944, when 24 sake makers in and around Akita City came together under the wartime consolidation order. It carries on the lines of breweries that began between the Edo and Taisho eras, the oldest dating to 1656. In 1947 the brand names Takashimizu and Senshuzakura were chosen through a public contest. Storage facilities and larger brewhouses followed, and in 1998 a hand-brewing kura was added. Today it runs several brewhouses, including the hand-brewing Sennin-gura, and keeps to the cold-season brewing style of the Yamauchi toji guild.
