Sennenichi Shuzo (千年一酒造株式会社)

Sennenichi Shuzo is a small sake brewery in Higashiura, Awaji City, Hyogo, that brews sake with a focus on rice grown on Awaji Island.

What kind of brewery is Sennenichi Shuzo?

Awaji Island once had about 50 sake breweries, and now only two remain. The Great Hanshin-Awaji Earthquake badly damaged the brewery, and closing was once considered. The brewers carried on with rice entrusted by the Awaji Sake Tanteidan, and the resulting sake, Senmusui, led to the decision to rebuild. In 2020 the owner's nephew, who serves as toji, became representative director, and the brewery continues making sake from Awaji rice with a new generation.

Water
The brewery uses spring water from Mt. Shoki.
Ingredients
It brews sake using only Awaji-grown sake rice, with Gohyakumangoku grown by local volunteers used for Senmusui.
