History

Founded in 1717. The house began as the rice merchant and money changer Komeya, dealing in domain rice, and a branch family member, Komeya Kihei, started brewing on the side. Its official site lists six commitments, including spring water from the Rokko range, rice grown with farmers for more than 130 years, junmai sake, everyday sake and long-aged sake.
