Sasaki Shuzoten (有限会社佐々木酒造店)

Sasaki Shuzoten is a sake brewery in Yuriage, Natori, Miyagi, founded in 1871 and making Hosen Nami no Oto. It lost its brewery in the 2011 tsunami, brewed in a temporary facility, and rebuilt a new brewery in 2019.

What kind of brewery is Sasaki Shuzoten?

In 1871 the first-generation Shinsuke Sasaki, who was running several businesses including transport, opened a sake shop in Yuriage, a port that prospered under the Date domain, naming it Naminooto. The brewery worked as a small operation with Nanbu toji until the 2011 tsunami destroyed it. It restarted from the sake in two surviving tanks, brewed in a temporary facility from December 2012, began planning reconstruction in 2017, and held the opening of the new brewery on 1 October 2019.
