What kind of brewery is it?
The Otokoyama name goes back to the Edo period, when a sake served as an official sake of the shogunate was created in Itami, Kansai, by a brewer of the Mokuwataya house who named it after the Otokoyama Hachiman shrine. The predecessor, Yamasaki Shuzo, was founded in Hokkaido in 1887. In 1968 the company inherited the Otokoyama name from the Yamamoto family of the Mokuwataya main house. Overseas sales began in the United States in 1984, and the brewery now exports to more than 20 countries.
