What kind of brewery is it?
Otokoyama Honten was founded in 1912 (Taisho 1) in Kesennuma. Its head office in Uomachi, built in the early Showa era, was a nationally registered cultural property; it was damaged by the 2011 tsunami and rebuilt on the same spot in July 2020. The brewery itself stood on higher ground and resumed work the next day. Since 2022 the toji has been Itoe Kuboshima, the brewery's first woman toji, and it grows Miyagi-bred sake rice Kura no Hana with contract farmers. Its flagship Sotenden aims for a clean taste like the blue sky over Kesennuma.
