Oki Shuzo (隠岐酒造株式会社)
Oki Shuzo is a brewery in Okinoshima, Shimane, that mainly makes sake and also produces shochu and liqueurs. Its main brand is Okihomare. It was founded in 1972.
What kind of brewery is Oki Shuzo?
To keep sake making alive on the island of Oki, the five members of the Saigo brewers' association merged in October 1972 and formed the company. A public naming call at the same time produced the Okihomare brand. A seaweed shochu followed in 1984, a ginjo brewing building was added in 1991, and the lineup later grew to include junmai sake and seaweed liqueur. The brewery mills its own rice and uses rice such as Yamada Nishiki and Gohyakumangoku.
