History
Brothers Kamezo and Motosaburo Miyashita began brewing sake in Tamano, Okayama, in 1915. The company moved to its present site in Okayama City in 1967 in search of good water and brews with subsoil water of the Asahi River. In 1974 it began a dry-style sake, Hijiri, later known as Kiwamihijiri, and in 1995 it launched Doppo craft beer, reported as the ninth in Japan and the first in the Chugoku region. In 2017 it opened Doppokan, a visitor brewery with a restaurant and shop. Bicchu toji have taken part in the brewing since its early days.
