Where to buy

What kind of brewery is it?

The brewery was founded in 1851 (Kaei 4), when the founder moved the brewhouse, building and all, to Ogawa for its water and its busy trading town. Early on it sold under another sake name, and later made Mikadomatsu its main brand, named with a wish to keep the top of sake brewing for generations and with the pine as a symbol of prosperity. Shachō no Sake, first sold in the time of the fifth generation, is also well known.

What makes it distinct

Water
Brewing water is drawn from 130 meters underground.
Ingredients
Rice is chosen by origin to suit the style, including Yamada Nishiki from Hyogo and Bizen Omachi from Okayama.

The toji's skill is combined with up-to-date equipment in brewing.
Yeast

Also
