What kind of brewery is it?
The brewery's start is dated to 1690, when its first-generation founder began brewing sake in Okazaki, using surplus rice after news of brewing reached the area along the Tokaido road. In the Meiji era it also set up a brewery in Nishinomiya, in Nada, and in Okazaki it made shochu, mirin, miso and soy sauce. Much of the brewery was lost in the Okazaki air raids during the Pacific War. After the war it rebuilt a surviving miso warehouse and resumed sake brewing.
