Founded in 1743, the brewery has made sake for more than 280 years in the Ueno village south of the Shiraito Falls. The current head is the ninth generation, and the toji is from the Noto school. The name Fujisan was first given to a sake in the Showa era and is the brewery's own registered trademark. In the Showa era it was also among the first in its area to release an undiluted genshu.
