Koshinoiso (株式会社越の磯)

Koshinoiso is a brewery in Fukui City, Fukui Prefecture, making sake as well as craft beer and plum liqueur. It was founded in 1909.

What kind of brewery is Koshinoiso?

The brewery was founded in 1909 at Gumizaki in Koshino Village and moved to Fukui City in 1959. When the village merged into Fukui City in 2006 and its name disappeared, the brewery renamed its main sake from Koshinoiso to Koshinoiso (with the village's kanji) and redesigned the label to keep the name alive. The label calligraphy was done by a former longtime local teacher, and the sake is brewed entirely with Koshi no Shizuku, a sake rice newly developed in Fukui.
