History

The distillery dates its founding to 1911, and the official site marks its 115th year. It has stayed with earthenware pot fermentation, and its layout is built around pots used since the beginning. It was formerly called Satsuma Kirishima Shuzo and took its present name from the former Kirishima town. Some of its sweet potatoes, rice and barley come from its own farming company, Akarui Nouson.
