The company began in 1897 (Meiji 30) as a sake maker called Hino Shuzo, later incorporated as Hino Shuzo Co., Ltd. In 1968 it took capital participation from the liquor wholesaler Sakekan, renamed itself Eiko Shuzo, moved its main plant to the present site and began selling Shusen Eiko. It then added refrigerated brewing and bottling facilities and expanded into fermented seasonings and liqueurs. A direct-sales shop opened in 2017.
