Asama Shuzo (浅間酒造株式会社)

Asama Shuzo is a sake brewery in Nagono-hara, Agatsuma District, Gunma Prefecture, producing local sake such as Higen. It runs a roadside tourism center next to the brewery. It was founded in 1872.

What kind of brewery is Asama Shuzo?

The brewery began in 1872, when it received its sake brewing licence from the prefecture in August. The next year its sake output reached 100 koku. A fire destroyed it in 1909, and it moved to Naganohara. The company was incorporated in 1953, and in 1988 the tourism center opened along with a new brewery building. Since 2011 the brewery has also grown its own sake rice.
