What kind of brewery is it?

Records of the Yamaguchi family holding a sake ticket at Funatsu, south of Lake Inawashiro, date back to 1710. The family moved to Koriyama village in 1742, and the brewery counts its founding from the start of brewing and sales in 1765. It moved from central Nakamachi in Koriyama to its present site in 1957, set up Sasanokawa Shuzo as a company in 1966, and merged with Sanzakura Shuzo in 1998, with Sasanokawa Shuzo as the surviving company. Distilling at the Asaka distillery began in 2016.
