Asahiduru (株式会社旭鶴)
Asahiduru is a sake brewery in Mawatari, Sakura City, Chiba, producing Asahiduru and other sake as a local Sakura brew. It was founded in 1830.
What kind of brewery is Asahiduru?
The founder, Kanzaburo Tanaka, trained at a sake brewery in Niigata and began brewing in the former Mawatari Village in 1830. Mawatari was a post town, and the Tanaka brewery (today's Asahiduru) brewed next to an inn for travelers. When villages were reorganized in 1889 Mawatari merged into Asahi Village, which gave the brewery its name. In 1955 the former Mawatari area became part of Sakura City, making it a local Sakura sake.
